Roots of Peace donation for Baštice area in Croatia

International Humanitarian Demining Symposium 2010 in Šibenik, Croatia was this year also an opportunity for ITF to receive a donation from Mr. Miljenko Grgich, a winemaker from California, Croatian descent, who donated 10.000,00 USD for demining activities in Croatia. In the name of Mr. Grgich, the check was handed over to Mrs.Djurdja Adlesic, a Vice-President of the Croatian Government by Mrs. Heidi Kuhn, Founder of Roots of Peace. Donation will be matched with the funds of US Government and will be used for demining of Baštice area to increase safety of life and to encourage vine production in the area.
A symposium in Šibenik, Croatia was again hosted by Croatian Mine Action Center. From 27 April to 29 April 2010, the participants from 32 countries had an opportunity to exchange experiences and to present the newly developed demining machines, to see mine detection dogs in action as well as unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) through demonstration exercises.
