Relief and Rehabilitation Programme for Children from Libya

On the initiative of Slovenian Embassy in Egypt and Slovenian President Dr Danilo Türk, a group of children from Libya came to Rogla, Slovenia on 02 July for 2-week relief and rehabilitation programme from difficult wartime situation in Libya. The project will also provide psychosocial assistance through interactive workshops organized by ITF with the main purpose to help them in coping with experienced stress and trauma.
 
On 07 July 2011, children were visited by representatives from Office of Slovenian President Mrs Mojca Toš and Mr Franc Ho?evar, Director of Unior Turizem Mr Damjan Pintar and ITF Deputy Director Mr Goran Ga?nik. The visit was also accompanied by Slovenian media representatives. Children shared their stories and experiences in Slovenia and also prepared a special exhibit corner to express their gratitude to organizers and all the donors.
 
During their stay the children will be mainly involved in outdoor sport activities, excursions, interactive workshops and in “research camp” together with Slovenian children, which will provide also the opportunity for intercultural dialogue. 

The programme was made possible by joined efforts of Slovenian companies that showed their solidarity. Donors were Unior d.d., Unior d.d. Program Turizem, Adria Airways, Mercator d.d., Ljubljanske mlekarne d.d., Celjske mesnine d.d., Kraft & Werk d.o.o., Univerzal Commerce d.o.o. in Holding Slovenske elektrarne d.o.o..

On 7 July 2011 Slovenian daily news talk show »Odmevi« (TV SLO 1), reported about the programme activities. In the report Mr Ga?nik, on behalf of ITF stressed the importance of relief and psycho-social rehabilitation programme for children from Libya due to difficult wartime situation in their country.
