Opening Ceremony of Demining Project „Area of the Kotar forest“

26.07.2012

ITF Director, Mr Dorijan Marši? attended the opening ceremony of demining works on the project „Area of the Kotar forest“ near the town of Petrinja, Sisak Moslavina County, Croatia on Thursday, 26 July 2012.

The project area of 34.907 sq. meters consisting of the forest is located close to the houses in a very inhabited residental area of Moš?enica. It represents a daily danger for the locals as the forest is suspected to be heavily mined. 14 mine related incidents happened in the Kotar forest, especially in the Tomislavova street where 12 people were killed by stepping and triggering the antipersonnel mines.

ITF provided donations for the Project from Croatian Trust Fund Croatia without Mines and United States of America - Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.
