19.05.2008

International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) has again received the Kingdom of Norway donation for 2008 in amount of 3.715.500 EUR. The twelfth donation of Kingdom of Norway will be earmarked for continuation of mine action activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The donation will be used for the support of NGO “Norwegian People's Aid” mine action activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1.928.460 EUR) and Croatia (1.787.040 EUR) and will significantly contribute to the mine clearance efforts in both countries.

Since 1999, Norway contributed to ITF more than 24 million EUR for demining and mine victims assistance programs and remains one of the most regular supporters of ITF activities in the region of South East Europe.

Goran Ga?nik, ITF Director at the occasion said: “ITF emphasises the regional cooperation in the region of South East Europe that involves interstate cooperation in mine action to ensure a cost-effective and most efficient use of donations. With the support of donor community, among which the Norway plays the major role, the mine affected countries in the region of South East Europe are reaching their goals of mine free countries more efficiently and enhancing the socio-economic conditions for living.
