ITF visited Lithuania

In the period from 11 April to 14 April 2011, ITF delegation headed by Mr Goran Ga?nik, ITF Deputy Director visited Lithuania to meet representatives of Lithuanian Armed Forces and US Embassy in Vilnius.

Within ITF Strategy 2009-2013, ITF is expanding its activities also to destruction of surplus of conventional weapons and ammunition. United States of America is ITF`s biggest donor and has therefore among other support, offered financial assistance also for developing and executing demilitarization program in Lithuania as part of the ammunition life cycle management process.
 
During the visit, ITF delegation discussed all issues related to the preparation for conventional weapons and ammunition disposal activities in order to find safe, environmentally friendly and cost effective method to remove obsolete and unstable ammunition from the stockpiles.
