Donation for Gaza from the State of Qatar

Mr. Dorijan Marši?, ITF Director, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Attiya, Qatar`s Minister of State for International Cooperation, for the donation in amount of 100.000 EUR. MoU was signed on 20 July 2010 at Brdo pri Kranju and the donation has been earmarked to rehabilitate children, who have been victims of armed conflict in the Gaza Strip.

»We are extremely pleased that Qatar has recognized the importance of project on rehabilitation of children injured in the attacks on Gaza, which has been prepared upon the initiative of President of the Republic of Slovenia. ITF has successfully achieved a unique support of all local and international actors involved. MoU that was signed today with State of Qatar regarding donation for rehabilitation of children from Gaza Strip is the first one in project. Project`s long-term goal is to develop rehabilitation facilities and capacities in Gaza Strip, and to, in close collaboration with the URI-Soca, assure rehabilitation of more children as long as to provide required education for specialist responsible for permanent help to local residents in Gaza Strip«, said Mr. Dorijan Marši?, ITF Director, after the signing of the MoU.

MoU between ITF and Qatar for the donation in amount of 100.000 EUR for rehabilitation of children injured in attackson Gaza Strip is a pilot project, which can in the event of successful implementation represent the basis for further cooperation.

This particular donation will enable the rehabilitation of the following group of about ten children from Gaza Strip at the premises of URI - Soca in Slovenia. Under project that is long-term based, ITF negotiates with partners from Qatar on development of necessary infrastructure and capacities in Gaza Strip for medical and psycho-social rehabilitation for as many local people in Gaza Strip as it can.
