Austria donated more than 340.000 Euro for mine clearance activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

19.12.2003
Austria donated more than 340.000 Euro for mine clearance activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. in the district of Br?ko and Unsko-sanski canton. The donation will clear more than 200.000 square meters of high priority mine-contaminated areas. The donation agreement was signed today at the Austrian Embassy between the Austrian Ambassador, H.E. dr. Ferdinand Mayrhofer-Grünbühel and ITF director, Jernej Cimpersek. Bosnia and Herzegovina is still the most mine-affected country in the region of South-East Europe with more than 2000 square kilometers of suspected mine-contaminated land. Thus this donation will contribute to the aim of clearing Bosnia and Herzegovina of mines by year 2010.
